MRH Mourns Passing of Elementary Student
The following letter was emailed to all Elementary families on January 10, 2017:
Dear MRHE Families,
It is with great sadness that I am informing you that Jacob Parsons, a 6th grader at MRH Elementary School, passed away on Sunday due to complications from a routine medical procedure. We are all saddened by this loss in our MRH family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jacob’s family.
This information was shared with all 6th grade students this morning in their homerooms by counselors and principals. While only 6th grade students were notified, a full crisis support team consisting of our district counseling staff and SSD social workers are on-site today and will be available throughout the week ahead as needed. We have secured additional substitutes who can take classes if teachers need to work with students or teachers themselves need some time away. Any information about funeral arrangements will be shared once that information is available.
As a family, we encourage you to talk with your children about this loss. Attached you will find materials that will help guide conversations with your child. We encourage you to allow them to express their feelings and reassure them that we are all here to help. If you should need additional assistance during this time, the best way to contact us is to call the school at (314) 644-4403.
During this difficult time, it is important that we support Jacob’s family and each other.
Dr. Jason Adams
