“Hats on for Kids” Raises over $2,000 at the ECC
Majority of the Maplewood Richmond Heights School community has in some way heard of Dottie Coriell, a four year old preschool student, who was diagnosed with cancer early in her young life. During No Shave November, teachers across the District raised money and awareness for childhood cancer (male teachers grew out their facial hair for the entire month), in honor of Coriell.
In addition to that, the Early Childhood Center? recently held a special “Hats on for Kids with Cancer Day” for Coriell. Students were allowed to wear a hat and donate to the cause. Coriell led a small parade at the school and she even sat and posed with the class that raised the most money for a photo op.
The final counts are in from our Hats on for Kids with Cancer Day. In one day through the amazing generosity of our ECC families over $2,348.00 was raised.
Mrs. McBride's class raised the most money and won the red super hero masks courtesy of Mr. Scott's mother. Another huge thanks to Mrs. Pam Withers' high school economics students for counting and rolling all of the coins.
