'Girls on the Run' Annual Service Project
MRH Elementary School is proud to have a team of 33 girls participating in a program called Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based positive youth development program designed to develop and enhance girls' social, psychological and physical competencies to successfully navigate life experience.
A cheer they have begun to do as an MRH GOTR Team is, "Girls on the Run is SO MUCH FUN!" This is a very true statement. It is not only fun, giving girls a break from the rigors of their studies & extra time to spend with friends, but the MRH GOTR coaches, believe it is an empowering program giving girls the freedom to be confident and kind, and giving them the tools to navigate the beginnings of peer pressure, the emotions that accompany this age range and the tools for their journey as young women!
One way to empower the young girls is through the annual service project. This year, the MRH GOTR team has decided that they would like to create care packages that they can give to the homeless that they encounter in our community or the greater St. Louis community. Please consider joining us in this effort by donating any of the following list of items that can be included in the care packages or by making a monetary donation to help us purchase the necessary items.
- Travel size hand sanitizer
- Travel size tooth brushes and toothpaste
- Travel size packages of wet/face wipes
- Travel packs of tissue
- Travel first aid kits
- Canned foods like tuna, sausages, beans with easy pop tops
- Snack crackers
- Granola Bars
- Fruit cups or applesauce
- Beef jerky sticks
- Chewing gum
- Small bottles of water
MRH GOTR will be accepting donations through May 15th. Donations can be dropped off in the labeled box in the school office. Monetary donations can be put in an envelope labeled GOTR Service Project and given to Mrs. O'Connor in the office.
