Two New Assistant Principals Hired at MRH High
The Maplewood Richmond Heights School District is pleased to announce the hiring of two new assistant principals at MRH High School.
Dr. Samantha Smith comes to MRH from Gateway STEM High School in St. Louis, where she served as assistant principal and academic instructional coach. Her classroom experience includes teaching freshman literature and composition, 9th grade English, and World Literature. She holds several degrees: a BS in Education from the University of Missouri and an MA in Educational Leadership and Doctorate in Educational Administration, both from Maryville University.
Dr. Erica Peyton also has extensive administrative experience, having served as assistant principal in the Hazelwood and Normandy school districts. She was also a teacher in the Recovery School District and Jefferson Parish, both in Louisiana. Dr. Peyton received a BA in Secondary Education from Dillard University in New Orleans, an MA in Educational Leadership from the University of New England, and a doctorate in Leadership in Teaching and Learning from Missouri Baptist University.
Earlier this year, Assistant Principal Dr. Deann Myers announced her departure from MRH to accept a position as principal of Affton High School. The hirings of two new assistants will allow current assistant principal John McCabe to focus more closely on his MRH Middle School and Alternative Services duties, while the new principals will serve alongside High School Principal Dr. Kevin Grawer.
Dr. Myers will stay on board for the remainder of the current school year. Drs. Smith and Peyton will take over this summer.
