MRH Speech and Debate Team on a Roll
Sixteen MRH students competed in Speech and Debate tournaments on Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23, against 30 high schools from Springfield, Columbia, Jefferson City, and the St. Louis area.
At the Clayton Invitational, Juniors Max Cusick and John Tobin placed third, reaching semi-finals of Varsity debate. Junior Ty Johnson and Sophomore James Granger placed fifth, reaching quarter-finals. Senior Kamau MuseMorris placed 4th in Varsity Informative Speaking.
At the Ladue Novice Invitational for first-year competitors, Sophomore Frankie Tiede placed second in Persuasive Oration. Freshman Claudia Gutting reached semi-finals in her first speaking competition. First-year debaters, Keo Ode, Sasha Richardson, Jackson Corcoran, and Michelle Ryan narrowly missed elimination rounds after compiling a 3-1 record at Ladue.
