MRH Assistant Principals Graduate from UMSL Character Education Program
Dr. Marvin Berkowitz had to admit, it was not the type of graduation anyone envisioned. But the Character Education Professor from the University of Missouri-St. Louis was beaming with pride nonetheless as he presented diplomas to Dr. Erica Peyton and Dr. Samantha Smith, both assistant principals at MRH High School. The brief, socially-distanced ceremony took place on the school's north lawn with a light breeze and a bright sun overhead.
Since 1998, the Leadership Academy in Character Education (LACE) has helped more than 800 school leaders develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to create, implement and evaluate programs and processes that make their schools true learning communities in which character education is a vital part of the curriculum and culture. CEEL (Character Education for Emerging Leaders) is designed primarily for assistant principals who aspire to become head principals.
MRH Assistant Superintendent Roxanna Mechem said, "This was a lot of work on their parts and we know it will serve our students well."
Dr. Peyton and Dr. Smith are both in their second years of service at MRH.
