Filing Opens December 15 for Two Seats on the MRH School Board
The Maplewood Richmond Heights School District encourages qualified persons interested in running for a position on the School Board to file to be a candidate in the April 6, 2021, election. Interested persons may file at the superintendent's offices located at 7539 Manchester Road, Maplewood, Missouri 63143.
There are two positions available with three-year terms.
Filing will begin on December 15, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. and will continue during the district's regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Filing will not occur on the following holidays and breaks when the school district's central offices are closed: December 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, 2020 as well as January 1, 2021 and January 18, 2021. Filing will also not occur on days that the school district's central offices are closed due to inclement weather, or executive order of federal, state or local officials. Filing will end on January 19, 2021, at 5:00 p.m.
The safety of MRH staff, students and surrounding communities is our highest priority. All persons entering MRH Central Offices will wear properly fitted masks that cover the nose and mouth, and will be expected to fill out a brief health screening survey for contact tracing purposes. Once inside the building, candidates will complete filing paperwork in the Central Office Board Room. The Board Room will be cleaned via electrostatic sprayer before and immediately following the completion of filing for each candidate. Disinfected pens and hand sanitizer will be made available on site.
Any person interested in filing for school board should plan to ring the doorbell at MRH Central Office, no earlier than 8:00 a.m. on December 15, to announce their intention to file for candidacy. A member of the Central Office staff will take the name and cell phone number of the candidate to hold their place in line, and may ask them to wait in their car until called in to complete paperwork for filing. Please bring a photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state ID card, for identification and notary purposes.
In the event that a candidate arrives prior to 8:00 a.m. during listed filing dates, they will be expected to observe social distancing guidelines by forming a line 6’ apart from other filers outside the Central Office. No candidate information will be collected prior to 8:00 a.m. on the first day of filing.
Persons interested in filing for school board may also pick up filing paperwork from the Central Office to fill out at home. Board candidate filing packets will be available for pick up during regular office hours, beginning December 7. These papers must be returned to MRH Central Office by the person filing for candidacy no earlier than 8:00 a.m. on December 15, 2020, and no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 19, 2021.
