MRH Debate Team Continues to Collect Early Season Awards
The MRH High School Speech and Debate team continued to win awards with a smaller team in the virtual debate tournaments of the 2020 season. The team competed at joint tournaments hosted by Clayton and Ladue High Schools on Nov. 20th and 21st. 36 high schools of all class sizes competed.
First-year debaters Katy Corcoran and Kate Vasey reached Novice semi-finals before dropping to Parkway West and earned a 3rd place trophy. Corcoran and Vassey continue to have the most successful career start in team history.
In Varsity Division at the Clayton Tournament, the teams of Jackson Corcoran and Anna Munn Carstensen along with the team of Will Matz and Ian McWilliams also earned trophies by reaching the quarterfinals. In Clayton’s Champions Division, featuring some of the best teams in Eastern Missouri, Nathan Hall and Andrew McCandliss also reached quarter-finals, earning 5th place.
