"Learning Forward" Graduation Caps Amazing Experience for MRH Educators
After a 2.5-year commitment including workshops in numerous cities with fellow professionals from around the globe, five MRH educators were really looking forward to an in-person December graduation from the Learning Forward Academy. It wasn't to be, but the virtual ceremony was sweet nonetheless.
Learning Forward is the only professional association devoted exclusively to those who work in educator professional development. They help members leverage the power of professional learning to affect positive and lasting change. Learning Forward shows them how to plan, implement, and measure high-quality professional learning to achieve success with students.
The MRH participants were Middle School principal Dr. Mike Dittrich, Middle School teacher Carla Pezzani-Rovira, Elementary School teachers Laura Brasses and Abby Smith and MRH Data & Assessment Coordinator Rachel Ward.
"The Learning Forward Academy experience is a two and half year deep dive into system-thinking, planning and executing an action plan for a problem of practice to bring about lasting change that positively impacts student achievement," explains Joe McFarland, Learning Forward coach. "The five exceptional leaders from your district collaborated with sixty other educators from across the nation and world and showed great passion, purpose and dedication to research, gather and analyze data, model a continuous cycle of improvement and work tirelessly to achieve the goals they set for themselves and their district. Deep, impactful, lasting system change is not easy but these five individuals did just that and I'm confident that your system will be even better than it already is due in part to these amazing educators."
Learning Forward’s Annual Conference, known for more than 40 years as THE Learning Conference for educator professional learning, also moved to virtual for 2020.
