Elementary School "Curators" Up Their Game; Grant Money Will Go Toward Enhancing the MRHE Metaphor

The Innovative Technology Education Fund Innovator Grant was written in collaboration with staff and students at MRH Elementary School to enhance the work around the “School as Museum” metaphor.

MRHE received funds to support digitizing the Museum process, document student learning, and engage students and staff in deeper learning around project-based learning. They even received some funds for furniture to help redesign spaces for more collaborative work, along with supplies to create museum displays. This work is being led by veteran 6th grade teacher Dan Lyons and Principal Carlisha Elam.

Recently, 6th grade leaders dedicated time to organizing and labeling materials purchased through the ITEF grant. These dedicated students will start learning how to operate the Lego Spike equipment and soon teach their peers how to use it. The goal? To enhance their learning experiences and make their project displays even more interactive.

Last year, students identified these innovative tools as essential for creating exhibits that engage visitors with diverse learning styles. We're excited to see how this new equipment will help them tell the story of their learning in dynamic and creative ways!
