Sausele Named Co-Coach of the Year

For the 2nd year in a row, MRH head basketball coach Joe Sausele has been named 2024-2025 Co-Coach of the Year for Class 4, District 4 by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA). Coach Sausele, who is also the High School Career Connections Teacher, highlights an ongoing theme for every player and manager in the program: “You’re preparing yourself to do more important things than be involved in high school basketball.” 

His three points of emphasis for scholar-athletes: 

Academic Achievement 

  • 23-24: MSHSAA Distinguished Scholar Award 

  • 24-25: 3.59 Varsity GPA first semester 

  • Multiple partial and full academic scholarships for players and managers 

Positive Conduct in the school and larger community 

  • Three years of volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, fall and spring Saturdays 

  • Volunteer yearly assisting with the Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast 

  • Participate in MRH “Trunk or Treat” annually 

Pursue Competitive Success 

  • Three Straight SCAA Championships 

    • 22-23 Co Champs (9-1) 

    • 23-24 Champs (10-0) 

    • 24-25 Champs (7-1) 

    • 22-23 District Champs

    • Overall record, last three years: 52-31

Coach Sausele was also the 2023-2024 MBCA Class 4, District 4 Co-Coach of the Year, and was the 2022-2023 MBCA Class 3, District 3 Coach of the Year.
