Field of Candidates Narrowed to Two for Unexpired Term on Board of Education

The Board of Education on May 1 deferred its decision to select a 7th member to fill the final year of an unexpired term. Nine individuals filed applications to be named to the seat formerly occupied by Christy Martinez, who tendered her resignation in March. At Thursday's special meeting, applicants addressed the Board for three minutes, explaining their experiences and qualifications to serve the District. Board members ultimately selected two candidates and agreed to continue deliberations. A selection will be made at a subsequent meeting.

The two finalists are Loretta Colvin and Demetrius Easley. Colvin and Easley are parents of MRH students.
